Point Break - Pure Adrenaline Edition

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

pointbreak Pure Adrenaline EditionI've written before about my guilt for this movie, but quite frankly I don't care. You heard. I think Point Break is awesome and I don't care who knows it.

It's taken a while to get here, but this 'Pure Adrenaline Edition' sounds like a bit of a cheat, here's the list of extras on the disc.

Deleted Scenes: Holistic Fitness With Agent Pappas, Agent Johnny Utah Thinks He Can Surf, Tyler Saves Johnny From The Waves, Penetration Of The Social Infrastructure, Tyler & Johnny Spend Time, Alone In The Water, A Basic Hit & Run, Tyler Accuses Johnny Of Using Her, Johnny & Bodhi Talk About Robbing Banks

Featurettes: It's Make Or Break, Ride The Wave, Adrenaline Junkies, On Location: Malibu

3 Theatrical Trailers

I've seen better special editions, but then anything above 'spanish subtitles' on a Point Break dvd will make me happy.

The day this drops through my letter box, my friends are coming round, double bill of Point Break and Days of Thunder. Maybe afterwards we'll watch something cultural to balance it out like 'The Seventh Seal'..BOOOO.. or maybe i'll just put 'Tears of the Sun' on instead.. YAAAAYYY

Ben Harp: You're a real blue flame special, aren't you, son? Young, dumb and full of come, I know. What I don't know is how you got assigned here. Guess we must just have ourselves an asshole shortage, huh?
Johnny Utah: [quietly] Not so far.

Black Sheep

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

black sheep concept artThat's right, a killer sheep movie. If you were going to put money on which country would be first to make a killer sheep movie, New Zealand would be a strong favourite.

I saw some stills from the movie a while back on blackmagic (again via twitch), and now they've just put up the posters. The brief plot synopsis…

An experiment in genetic engineering turns harmless sheep into blood-thirsty killers that terrorize a sprawling New Zealand far.

Hopefully there will be a trailer online soon, but until then check out the posters at the link above "There are 40 million sheep in New Zealand, and they're pissed off" stone cold genius. Also WETA the boys behind lord of the rings are doing all the concept art (left) and effects.

Red Road

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

red road posterRed Road is a small british independent film, one that did well across the channel and won the jury prize at Cannes this year. It goes on general release this September, and was being apparently being touted as the 'British Cache'

Jackie (Kate Dickie) works as a CCTV operator. Each day she watches over a small part of the world, protecting the people living their lives under her gaze. One day a man appears on her monitor, a man she thought she would never see again, a man she never wanted to see again. Now she has no choice, she is compelled to confront him

Check out some stills from 'Red Road' here

A larger version of the poster can be found at impawards here

Grindhouse pics

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Here I was following the comicon news over at aintitcool (although the more I read… the angrier I get that I can't be there… hot fuzz footage, fountain footage etc etc etc.) while the place I probably should have been looking is joblo. That guy needs to sort out some RSS feeds.

Skip to the end. Joblo has posted some photographs of a display at comicon that shows some stills from 'planet terror' check them out here

(also I just realised this is where the grindhouse posters I posted earlier are from as well, albeit straightened out versions)

“Autobots roll out!” - Peter Cullen confirmed as the voice of Prime

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Not Peter CullenFile this one under a very nerdy 'YES!!' One of the reports from the Comic con which had nerds tapping away at their keyboards and rubbing things with glee is the confirmation that the original voice of Optimus Prime himself, Peter Cullen, will reprise the role for Michael 'Explosion, cut, explosion, cut, 360 swoop, cars, tits, explosion' Bay's big-screen live-action Transformers due next year. Check it out.

This has restored some faith in the project for a lot of the hardcore, as it was something they'd been pressing for from the moment the project was announced. Cullen was the voice of the Autobot leader in the TV series and subsequently the 1986 movie, plus he's done a whole load of voice over stuff…hell the guy voiced 'Winston' in Rude Dog and the Dweebs for god's sake!

All I can say is I want the film to be amazing, we're talking about THE robots in disguise (fuck off Citroen!) so it has to be amazing… but then there's the leaked shots of the Transformers in 'normal mode' which the geeks were rubbishing and, of course, the Bay factor. Don't get me wrong, I've got a soft spot for Bay, you can't help but love anyone who blows shit up on the scale he likes to, and I have kind of ignored stuff like The Island. I'll reserve judgement until I see it, although I'm sure I can hear the sound of critics like Peter Bradshaw sharpening their knives in anticpation for next year.

C'mon Mikey, do it for the guys who can remember the names of all the Decepticon jets!

Oh, AICN has posted some clear shots of the two teaster posters that were shown at Comic Con which you can check out here.

New Ridley Scott film ‘A Good Year’

Monday, July 24th, 2006

A good yearNew Ridley Scott film with Russel Crowe in the lead. The trailer is here

It doesn't look my kind of film 'business man finds himself', but anything with Ridley Scott behind the lense i'll give some time too. I love Gladiator (although it kind of became popular not to like it), Alien and of course Blade Runner. Did I mention Alien already? well… Alien. The man made 'Alien' for fucksake, Alien. Crowe's off screen antics have made me grow weary of watching him on screen, but still… Alien.

Hot Fuzz images

Monday, July 24th, 2006

hot fuzzI've tried to collect all the stills from 'Hot Fuzz' from around the net in one place, our flickr account. There's not many images around, but If I've missed any drop me an email here

This latest image to the left is from the workingtitle website(and seems to be what they stole the images from for the comicon poster), it appears they're getting into gear to drop the promotion bomb. Edgar Wright and some of the cast are currently at comicon promoting the film and showing some early footage.

Check out the set in our flickr here

and some other hot fuzz images on flickr here and here
