‘Smokin Aces’ teaser trailer online
Joe Carnahan's previous feature 'Narc' was, in my opinion, brilliant. I can't get enough of fat Ray Liotta beating the shit out of crack dealers with a pool balls in socks. The teaser trailer for Carnahan's new film 'Smokin Aces' has just been put online here. If i'm honest, I'm disapointed. When I watch it, it seems like something I would like, it has lots and lots of gunfights, a lot of shit blowing up, and all set to the dulcet tones of Motorhead.
The reason I think I don't like it is because it reminds me of a Guy Richie movie. Don't get me wrong I liked Snatch, and bits of Lock,Stock were ok, but the guy jumped the shark with 'Revolver', and when you get past the style overload with his films, there's really nothing left. Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
The style and tone of Narc were, well subtle, and this…just take a look at the teaser. I knew this was going to be a comedy, and it has the cast to pull it out of the bag, Jeremy Piven and Ryan Reynolds alone could carry it, but we'll have to wait and see how it all turns out, I hope the final film proves me wrong, I really do.

I quite liked it. You can’t expect too much from a teaser, but it’s nice to see Working Title stepping away from those endless rom-coms with a bit of style and humour.
Thats true, but let us not forget they’re releasing Hot Fuzz early next year also.
