Zombies Party in bargain basement

Given the obsessive nature of fans of pop-culture reference heavy Wright/Pegg collaborations, it is unsuprising that they chose a sequence mirroring Shaun's 'Shortcut' scene for their second short teaser. It's a nice joke that anyone who watched the film more than twice would pick up on, and one that gets many scouring through old Spaced DVD's to see whether it is seeded any earlier. Geek heaven. But there is more it seems! When Nick puts the 'Supercop' DVD down in the Bargain Basement, it sits next to a very familiar looking film, but with the title bizarrelly altered.
I guessed that this might have been Shaun's title during production, and referencing it would create a tiny nerd-gem, a little in-joke that they can go to conventions and blog about. Kind of how Blue Harvest t-shirts have popped up on the internet as some geek-chic nod to the fact that you know the secret working title of The Empire Strikes Back.
All IMDB has is some obscure eighties movie, which isn't popular enough to have a poster, so definitely isn't some camp-classic beloved by young film-makers. From initial googling it seems it could have been in reference to a recent tragedy in the US where some mental went to a Zombie-themed party and killed six people, but I don't really think that's Pegg's style, frankly.
The truth is less exciting though. Seems the film was renamed 'Zombies Party' in Spain. Despite the fact that in Shaun of the Dead no party takes place. I presume they just wanted the film to sound a bit more positive and traditionally funny. And I suppose Wright's reference of it here in a bargain bin reveals his annoyance at such meddling. Certainly from the fact that that case isn't actually the Spanish case, just a UK one specifically Photoshopped for that shot.
I dread to think how much shit like this there's going to be in the actual movie. I'm definitely bringing my laptop to the cinema.
Hi, Zombies Party is actually the portuguese title for Shaun of the Dead and that might very well be a portuguese edition of the DVD!
In Portugal they have this stupid habit of making up films’ names instead of just translating them, well it seems that this time around they got some recognition for it!
