Brad Anderson goes Trans-Siberian

Brad AndersonNot the newest piece of news if you're a regular reader of the movie-web, but something I've been meaning to mention for a while. Brad Anderson is a director that i'm still waiting for something great from. That's not to say the films he's made to date have been bad because they haven't, they've been good, but just not mind blowing. He's like an underachieving kid at school, what he produces is of a high standard, but there's a nagging feeling that he could produce something amazing and truly make a name for himself. His last two movies are the most remembered; 'Session 9' a creepy thriller shot with DV on location in a spooky old mental hospital, and 'The Machinist' a movie largely publicised due to Christian Bales dramatic weight loss.

Anderson has started work on his new film, a contemporary crime thriller 'Trans Siberian', starring Woody Harrelson in the lead. The Hollywood reporter writes:

"The story focuses on an American couple that travels on the famous Trans-Siberian train from Vladivostok to Moscow and encounters another couple. What seems to be a simple train journey soon turns into a thrilling chase full of deception and murder as it becomes clear that not everybody is who they seem."

Harrelson is not known for his blistering performances, (the last thing I can think of he was in was 'A Scanner Darkly' where he was totally upstaged by Downey Jnr) but it'll be interesting to see how he handles something with this kind of dramatic edge, who knows, we might see something amazing.
