Happy Christmas, Jesus, Hanukkah holidays!

woooo hoooo santa!Okay so for the next couple of days on Solace we're going to dedicate the site to that glorious holiday, Christmas. We're going to be running down our top ten films from the past year, talking about our favourite christmas movies and maybe even about the films we just like to watch when we stop working and start chowing down on some turkey face. Just like actual christmas I expect it will bring disagreements and more than possibly, some tears, but out of all of it, hopefully we can get some discussion going.

So let us know your favourite christmas movies, and your top movies from the last year, has it been a good year for films or bad?

Come christmas afternoon and you're stuffed yourself to the point of heart failure, what will you be settling down to watch?

  1. THE ONLY XMAS MOVIES YOU NEED:

    Bad Santa - incredible performance
Elf - great elf out of water story
Christmas Vacation - never, ever gets old
Die Hard - really festive and generally perfect
Scrooged - Bill Murray nailed it

    Maybe also:

    Home Alone - guilty pleasure
It’s a Wonderful Life - it is very cool

  2. i agree, home alone is a must although i cant stand elf as i hate will ferrel lol!

the grinch has to be my fav xmas movie as jim carrey is simply amazing!

  3. Yeah, The Grinch is pretty sweet. Never seen the whole thing actually.

  4. I’d say all in all 2006 has been a pretty average year for films. There haven’t been many foreign language films that have truly crossed over into the mainstream except perhaps Hidden and Pan’s Labyrinthe and I’m scratching my head to think of many Hollywood Blockbusters that made me willing to rub shoulders with the popcorn and nachos crowd at my local multiplex on a Saturday night.

Anyway, here’s my Top Ten of 2006:
    1. Hidden
    2. Lemming
    3. Three Burials of Melquidas Estrada
    4. 36 Quai des Orfevres
    5. The Prestige
    6. Grizzly Man
    7. The Departed
    8. Pan’s Labyrinthe
    9. United 93
    10. Brick
    (11. Miami Vice: What can I say? I guess I’m a sucker for Mojitos…)
