Intense trailer for sci-fi ‘Sunshine’
Sunshine is the new Sci-fi film from Danny Boyle. Up until now the Sunshine website has done a good job of keeping people up to date with the production, but we hadn't actually seen much of anything footage-wise, especially of the seemingly massive amount of special effects they've put into this. I have to admit I wasn't that excited about it, hence the lack of coverage. It looked ok, but nothing I was about to jump around about. The trailer arrived via fox searchlight and has spread over the web like wildfire, and looks… really good, much better than I expected in fact.
50 years into the future, the Sun begins to die, and Earth is dying as a result. A team of astronauts are sent to revive the Sun - but the mission fails. Seven years later, a new team are sent to finish the mission as they are Earth's last hope.
I love the cast he's put together for this, eclectic but could work really well; Cillian Murphy (master of the stink-eye), Chris Evans (Likable superhero fodder guy) and Michelle Yeoh (still hot as hell despite being old). At first they seem like some odd choices, but I really think it could work.
I'm waiting for Danny Boyle to make something really classic, I've liked bits of most things he's done, but I can't say i've ever loved one of his films throughout. Hopefully this will be the one that blows me away.
The best versions of the trailer I could find were on filmz.ru (there's 2 very slightly different trailers).

The Core 2? The guy screaming at the end tops it off.
I wasn’t up for this (even as a hardcore hardcore sci-fi fan) but I am very keen to see it now. It still looks like Solaris, Event Horizon, The Core, Alien 5 but I’m sure it will be fun enough. Not expecting miracles but a serious tone, some good performances and hot shit!
Youch!
Whats with the ‘Requim for a Dream’ music? Couldn’t think of anything else during the trailer.
Totally, wasn’t necessary at all. Especially since it was used in The Two Towers.
I guess Clint Mansell gotta eat…
A bit too dramatic for a sci-fi piece too, have you heard the Solaris score? incredible.
Also even though I quite like what I see with this trailer, I think I’ve already seen too much… I mean I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say everyone dies except maybe Cillian Murphy, who dies in the end as their ship falls into the sun.
It looks like we see nearly all the characters die just in this short trailer.
Yeah, I expect all the money shots are in there too. It’s not a massive budget but they have to postition it as an event movie.
Still, Spaceship goes into the sun, I’m there with bells on!!
