‘Shooter’ international poster

Shooter poster

I'm such a sucker for these kind of films, maybe it's just flashbacks to watching Tom Berenger films on VHS when I was 15, films like 'Sniper' and 'The Substitute' you couldn't beat them, and as such I'm easily swayed by a macho-posturing poster and trailer.

It's directed by Antoine Fuqua who despite being responsible for 'King Arthur' did direct the more than ok 'Training Day'. Joining Fuqua, fresh from another great performance in 'The Departed' Mark Wahlberg is the lead.

A marksman (Wahlberg) living in exile is coaxed back into action after learning of a plot to kill the president. Ultimately double-crossed and framed for the attempt, he goes on the run to track the real killer and find out who exactly set him up, and why.

  1. Looks fun. Whole movie in the trailer again.

Always wanted to see Sniper but never got round to it. The VHS had a great cover.

  2. Hope it’s good. Agree with you about being a sucker for the sniper/subsitute action films. They are great afternoon cable watching. The books this movie is based on are pretty good. Written by Stephen Hunter, the Washington Post film critic, they manage to transcend their action/spy genre roots a bit. Great beach reading.
