Uncomfortable poster for ‘The Kingdom’

The KingdomI have a lot of love for actor turned director Peter Berg, his third film 'Friday Night Lights' is one of the best sport movies ever made, and I should know because I've seen most of them. I watched the Mark Wahlberg film 'Invincible', and I even saw the Kurt Russell Ice Hockey movie 'Miracle'. I love them, I know, it's a sickness. Berg's new film 'The Kingdom' at first glance seemed quite interesting (It's even being produced by Michael Mann) but after finding out more about it, I'm just getting slightly bad-vibes from the whole thing.

Maybe it's just that the plot seems to be harking back to the action films of the late 80's early 90's when all the bad guys were 'A-rabs', and also appears to be precipitating a rather ignorant view of the muslim world where everyone is a suspected terrorist. Just reading the plot synopsis alone made me uncomfortable.

Maybe i'm wrong, maybe it's not what i'm expecting, but I guess we'll find out when the PR for the film kicks in fully.
