Moviehole reports that the new Rambo movie currently in production somewhere in Thailand has undergone a name change; from ‘Rambo IV: Pearl of the Cobra’ to just ‘John Rambo’, following the naming convention of the last Rocky film.

Rocky is one thing, but I really think that a new Rambo film needs to be straight up hardcore action; Stallone taking down choppers with his fists, shooting men in the heart with his bow & arrow, and chewing off a mans face just for looking at him funny. The name ‘John Rambo’ doesn’t get me excited for seeing those kind of things on screen, ‘Pearl of the Cobra’ however sounds like a commando game for the Atari… and actually does get me a little juiced.

Well, I guess if they’re going to go all ‘First Blood’ with it, and just make it stone cold man-in-woods killing then that’s not a bad thing either. I might take ‘Pearl of the Cobra’ off their hands and make a film with it instead…. it would be about a guy punching helicopters, and shooting men in the heart.

‘Pearl of the Cobra’ wasn’t the first working title they’ve cast aside either, they also dropped:

- Rambo IV: End of Peace
- Rambo IV: Holy War
- Rambo IV: In the Serpent’s Eye (what the hell does that even mean?)

All of these title coming to a Dolph Lundgren film near you soon….how much do you want to bet?

I’m sure I used to watch a kids tv programme called ‘Holy War’ too….
