‘Skinwalkers’ AKA Werewolves on wheels

Skinwalkers posterHmmm, the new new great-white-hope of werewolf films? I highly doubt it, but anythings better than that pile of shit ‘Underworld’. The look of Skinwalkers reminds me a lot of ‘John Carpenters Vampires’, which I can only watch when I’m medicated or if i’m on a James Woods kick.

Here’s the synopsis:

Two packs of werewolves, divided by principles are signaled by the moon of the coming of an ancient prophecy. A small boy named Timothy (Matthew Knight) approaches his 13th birthday, unaware this marks the time of his transformation. Timothy has been raised by his mother Rachel (Rhona Mitra), his grandmother (Barbara Gordon), his Uncle Jonas (Elias Koteas), his cousin Katherine (Sarah Carter) and her boyfriend, Adam (Shawn Roberts). Rachel and her son Timothy have been unaware that the rest of the family are good werewolves that have guarded Timothy since birth. They know that Timothy is a half blood, and will control the destiny of the family. But they also know that Timothy’s power will put him in danger, for there are other werewolves that revel and embrace their blood-lust that are prepared to kill to preserve their way of life. These werewolves, led by Varek (Jason Behr), Zo (Kim Coates) and Sonya (Natassia Malthe), are hell bent on finding Timothy…their kin.

It’s not going to be better than Dog Soldiers… that’s for sure. Also why the hell do they put these pretty boys in the leads? I want my heros/anti-heros grizzled and cold…. with the dead black eyes of a shark. shark-eyed motherfuckers like Christian Bale and Daniel Craig….. even Thomas Jane. That’s one of the reasons I guess Daniel Craig worked well as Bond, I honestly believed he could kill a man by punching his nose into his brain. This Jason Behr guy… just looks like he spent way too long blow-drying his hair instead of looking like he just got a tattoo of the word ‘Fuck-Kill’ scribed on his skull.

  1. Why does every werewolf and vampire movie need to involve half bloods, the end of the world, or some kind of hybrid? Why can’t we just get a movie about werewolves just surviving as werewolves and make some interesting characters off that.

  2. There has to be an added kick and i’ve been waiting for a good gore werewolf film since Gingersnaps and this looks like it would be good.
