‘Helvetica’ to premier at SXSW festival

experimental jetsetFilms about design are a very small sub-genre of film, with a narrow audience appeal. Films about type and typographers is an even narrower sub-genre with possibly even less appeal, but still I have admiration for anyone obsessive enough to put the time and effort into exploring the origins and uses of a font, and if they can actually manage to make the topic appealing to anyone outside the design world, well thats an even bigger achievement.

‘Helvetica’ a full length documentary about the origins of the font-family will be premiering at the SXSW festival in Austin Texas festival on march the 13th.

and on a similar note, here’s a joke my friend Fergus told me:

A font walks into a bar, the barman shouts “Oi! get out!, we don’t want your type in here”

At typography conferences, that kills.
