Christopher Doyles ‘Paris J’taime’ segment

Christopher Doyle is arguably one of the worlds best cinematographers and has one of those “wait.. what?…. how did he get into the business?” stories behind his career, that essentially started when he got a break working on an early Wong Kar Wai film. The guy also spent 3 years on a Norwegian fishing ship, drilled for oil in India and practiced medicine in Thailand and is well known throughout Hong Kong as a raging alcoholic. You couldn’t make this shit up.

So to my point, The video above is Doyle’s segment from the upcoming film (direct to Dvd in the UK I think) ‘Paris J’Taime’. A film that contains many short stories directed by a whole raft of famous directors; The Coens, Sylvain Chomet, Alfonso Cuaron, Alexander Payne, Gus Van Sant and Tom Twyker to name just a few.

The clip above is sans-subtitles and in french but you can get the gist if you pay attention…
