ARRRRGGHHH Killer…Mushrooms?…in ‘Shrooms’
Hoh hoh… I can’t tell whether this is a taking drugs/ hallucinogenic/ rednecks in the woods horror, or a tripper/ killer-mushroom-people movie.. either way it could be some low-budget horror shlock…. maybe…. or maybe it’ll just be shit.
First it struck me as an American picture, but upon further inspection it appears it was filmed outside Dublin, funded by the Irish film board, yet stars one English guy and a bunch of yanks…weird…
I’ve yapped about killer-animal horror films before, what with rampaging sheep in ‘Black Sheep’, Dog Horror ‘The Breed’ and of course the excellent cow horror ‘Isolation’. Creature features are one thing… but vegetable-based horror is a whole genre that is ripe for exploitation; I want to see Squash stalking nubile co-eds through the woods, Knife-wielding Broccoli smashing through bedroom doors and I want to see Butter beans chewing on the flesh of children. If that’s wrong, then I don’t want to be right.
The Japanese did this movie right the first time round… with ‘Attack of the Mushroom People‘
