Win the beautiful poster for ‘Old Joy’, and the dvd
Here’s a cool little story that ties in with a competition. I wrote a post ages ago (in blog years AKA … about a month ago) about the great poster for ‘Old Joy’ a small little arthouse flick with Will Oldham and Daniel London in. I love great poster art and the ‘Old Joy’ poster had particularly caught my eye so I wrote about it. Subsequently the guardian film blog did a little piece about good poster art and referenced what I’d written.
So about two weeks ago I got an email from the people at Soda Pictures (the UK distributors) saying two things; 1. would I like some posters and dvds to give away as prizes on the blog.. answer… hell yes; and 2. that because of what I’d written and the post on the guardian blog the poster and several other iterations that were produced by All city media would be on the dvd as an extra feature. Solace influenced a dvd extra. That is cool as hell. fact.
This is open to UK residents only i’m afraid…. sorry international friends
OK so I have 3 Old Joy posters (pictured above, so you can see above roughly how big it is) and 3 dvds to give away together (each winner will receive a poster and a copy of Old Joy on dvd). All you have to do is answer this piss easy question…
- What is Will Oldham’s stage name
send the answer in an email to competition@solaceincinema.com and put ‘old joy’ in the subject line.
The winners names will be chosen at Random on Monday the 23rd of April, the same day that the dvd is released…
Well done you! It’s great when thing like that happen…
Thanks Rich, yeah it was very cool… small and insignificant to most people but I got a nice feeling from it.
[...] so I stopped taking entries for the Old Joy competition yesterday at midnight. The answer to the question “What is Will Oldhams stage name?”.. [...]
My son (Paul Johnstone) designed this poster, he was so thrilled to discover that it featured in a blog, especially with such nice compliments about it. Drawing has been Paul’s passion since he was very young, and now has a career doing the type of work that he loves. He’s currently got his own company - Monterey Design - if you visit his web site http://www.montereydesign.co.uk, you will be able to view more of his posters.
