The Horror of Advertising

Well this is just plain weird:

Shockers

These are part of an Argentinian advertising campaign for The Society of Spiritualists that all run with the tagline The bad energy can be near.

Now two things could be happening here.

1. It’s a safety campaign about the ’shock’ you can get from fiddling with power sockets (which means you ignore the spiritualist angle).

2. Argentinians are really really scared of electricity.

Anyone know the answer?

Despite the obvious Friday the 13th/Halloween/Scream references the ads actually made me think nostalgically of 1986’s Trick or Treat featuring an electricity-powered back-from-the-dead metal-head with support from Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne. And then there was Wes Craven’s Shocker… Both ripe for remakes.
