More ‘Doomsday’ images and info…

Monday, July 30th, 2007

DoomsdayThe shoddy looking official website for Neil Marshall’s ‘Doomsday’ has gone live and is hosting an odd selection of images (At a guess I would say they’re comps from the rumoured comicon artbook) with information on the film in a tiny unreadable font. You can check it out officially here or you can check them out in our flickr account here in varying sizes.

I’m a nerd for Neil Marshall and I really think ‘Doomsday’ is going to be great. A film all about sealing off scotland from the rest of England? how can it be bad? (that was a joke.. I love Scotland… high five?… anyone?.. no, ok then)

While we’re on the subject there’s some interesting coverage over at cinematical from the Doomsday comicon panel

Watching the footage, I was struck by just how much Marshall was influenced by other movies and Escape from New York in particular. You may as well start referring to Doomsday as Escape from Scotland because watching this was almost like watching a trailer for that movie.

The ‘red band’ trailer for ‘30 days of Night’ makes me want to chew flesh

Monday, July 30th, 2007

This was on the ‘30 Days of Night’ website, but because of annoyinng ‘enter your zipcode’ age verification that took me 3 attempts to get round, I didn’t want you guys to go through the same rigmaroll.. hence… it’s now easily viewable above. Solaceincinema providing violent content to children since 2006. good times

I was excited when the first ‘30 days of Night’ trailer arrived, but seeing it uncensored…I’m not ashamed to say..I got a little bit of violence/gore arousal.

Once the trailer finishes there’s an exclusive scene that’s worth watching. This film is going to rule, I can feel it.

Comicon third-hand information

Hellboy 2 the golden armyThere’s so much juicy stuff coming out of comicon (this is the big weekend though) that it’s all just too much for me to cover, so i’ll cover the big shit i’m interested in in greater depth in seperate posts and here’s the list of stuff i’m missing out:

A little look at the new Hulk (he looks pissed)

and some new artwork for the film with the MKIII suit (both via slash)

This was from last week, but the Watchmen casting was confirmed and Zack Snyder revealed a teaser poster with a heavy nod to the original book covers

It was revealed that Karen Allen will be in Indiana Jones 4, now officially titled ‘City of Gods’

The Poster for comicbook adaptation ‘Whiteout’ is revealed (very VERY close to the book cover) but footage from the film gains a less than stellar reaction

A poster for ‘Southland Tails’ is revealed. Will anyone even care about Richard Kelly any more when this film is finally released?

The poster for ‘Hellboy 2: The Golden Army’ is revealed (pictured) via

Sony release a redband trailer for Resident Evil 3, it’s available on their site. I’ll choose my words carfeully for this, but ‘Resident Evil 3′..MAY… POSSIBLY..be …not..quite..as shit.. as the other 2 **ducks and runs for cover**

On a related note it’s fun browsing the ‘comicon’ flickr tag at this time of year if you enjoy looking at cosplay nerds of varying degrees of quality (usually overweight people in lycra) but i’ll give special props to Metal Gear solid flunky and mini-Fett

The ‘Iron Man’ comicon footage looks epic. **UPDATED**

Monday, July 30th, 2007

It’s possible this footage might get taken down (although it’s less likely with dailymotion than it is with “this video is no longer available” AKA youtube) but If you do manage to catch it, I hope you like what you see. Personally I think it looks like both Favreau and Downey Jnr have totally nailed it, at least from what I can see. Downey Jnr is the right mix of agressive/funny and has turned on the cocky-asshole charm that I really used to admire in his older films. That coupled with what appears to be some pretty sweet direction from Favreau, some sick looking action scenes and a lot of fanboy pleasing moments (the Mk1 suit with flamethrowers, the mkIII suit inducing a sonic boom, naked women etc etc).

As i’ve said before I’ve never really followed Iron Man, and I’ve been pretty indifferent to news about the film up until now, but after seeing that footage the Iron Man movie is on my “fuck yeah” list.

If the dailymotion link goes down you can grab it here

**UPDATED** because the dailymotion link went down.. I updated it with one that works :) **UPDATED**

Doomsday poster from Comicon…

Friday, July 27th, 2007

Malcolm McDowell looking creepy with some kind of Knight behind him. Yes. Rhona Mitra wielding… some kind of large weapon. Yes. Weird rave kids… mmm.. dodgy. If It goes too ‘beyond thunderdome’ I won’t be happy.

The original images are from AICN, but they’ve been all squared up by some russians.

The Colverfield/Monstrous poster in Hi-res… tasty

Comicon cloverfield poster

Will they reveal anymore than we already know at comicon? If ‘Lost’ is anything to go by they might drag out the ‘monster’ reveal right up until 2011, whereupon it will be revealed to be a swarm of bees, or a stormcloud, or a polar bear. I’m already bored of it.

Hear the Jokers voice in the Dark Knight teaser

Friday, July 27th, 2007

The Dark Knight teaserThere’s so many fake trailers knocking around for ‘The Dark Knight’ it’s difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff.. so to speak. According to the imdb messageboards this one seems to be legit, which is weird because I thought the comicon TDK presentation wasn’t until today (and hence this new Joker site). Well regardless it’s up, so you could try the ongoing search for it on youtube before it gets taken down (a fruitless fight) or just check it on movieweb here.

Don’t expect too much there’s just the bat logo with Christian Bale and Michael Caine talking over the top… then the Jokers voice. pretty sweet I reckon, It’s enough to get my blood pumping a little faster at least.

The ‘Darjeeling Limited’ trailer arrives

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

The Darjeeling limitedJust like I predicted ‘The Darjeeling Limited’ has snuck up on me. I’m interested in all of Wes Anderson’s new projects but I wasn’t really very excited to see the new trailer. Curious, sure, but excited?… not so much. After seeing it I’m really hyped to see the film.

That’s the thing about Wes Anderson for me atleast, you can read synopsis’s of his films, see screenshots, and posters for the film but until you see his characters interacting within the dollhouse world he’s created (right down to the right kind of ‘pepper spray gun’) you don’t get the full effect. I love it and I think this might be one of his best yet although it’s always going to be hard to top Tenenbaums and Rushmoore.

Some people were worried about Brodie in a comedic role but I think he appears to be doing an admiral job, and I like him in a little comedy called ‘Dummy‘ I saw that had a kind of ‘Anderson’ feel to it.

Check out the trailer here

or if you’re after direct links:Hi-Res 480p, 720p, and 1080p
