I don’t remember where I first read about this, I might have heard it on a podcast… maybe… anyways, basically (he explains this at the beginning of the trailer… but still) the director Michael Davis had made some horrendous shit before ‘Shoot ‘Em Up’ and was having a hard time convincing the suits at New Line to let him direct the flick. So being the resourceful chap he obviously is he put together 15 minutes of action sequences from hand drawn storyboards, making one long animatic fight scene. It did the trick and he got the job, and now there’s pieces of the animatic up on yahoo (i’m guessing the full version will be on the eventual dvd release)

It’s interesting to see just to know the lengths people have to go to give hollywood a kick up the arse occasionally
